my grandma..

Things I do with pride and give credit to her…

1. Cooking aviyal, thiyal, meen, naranga pickle ( white and vedi kozha). Its a usual comment at home that even if we make thoran and pulisherry its tasty. Like green fingers there must be some culinary fingers in our family.

2. Lighting velakke at 6:30 pm with flowers adorning each deity and praying aloud( singing) and passing the tradition down to mayee

3. Stocking things for a month or so. I have seen dysfunctional houses where you have to run to the shop when the toothpaste tube finishes.

4. Reading good English classics especially Pearl S Beck.

5. Writing diary and keeping accounts meticulously. Of late I have lost it..but its just raring somewhere to come back

6. Tolerance yet maintaining your individuality even if the life gets harder..

Hues of nature!!

Hues of nature are sightings from my window of the range of colours of flowers, leaves, bark and trees..Each day has a backdrop of slightly varying shades of blue with the nature dressed at its best on various hues to create the stage for its acts of the day..and as the day breaks you get to watch the communion of woodpeckers, parrokettes, sparrows and wag tails..as each come and perform their part as viewed from my window, it appears as if someone has meticulously crafted the stage and its settings; the costumes and the colours; the songs and the sounds; the actions and placings..as birds move on..there is the march of the monkeys. Aren't they the big bullies around, I wonder!..breaking branches and throwing it around, young ones summersaulting crazily, but never to miss a hold on the thinnest of the twig..It surprises me how the fibble stems bare their weight..may beit doesn't get time to rebel to this vandalising for the monkeys move on in fraction of a second

Blame

Please don’t download your baggage of burden on me…
We met at time when there was void in our life
We gave each other something
And gained some thing which can be counted as more than friendship
And now you say all the trouble is cos of me..
I thought your life was a mess
You claim it still is ..
And that I’m the light
And then why this blames now..
I found lies and hidden truth in each moment..
I could have blamed..
But life is short..
So lets keep it sweet.
And not waste it in this blame game.

The Ram

Ode to a friend

I think I wrote lot of boring sutff but u my dear friend will patiently read thru it and find happiness in my message I know.. and I should reciprocate ur poetry ...

I always wondered where the beautiful people of the world has gone,
The commorades , the country men, the sisters and the brothers,
And then I met you across the oceans of people and words
It was like discovering a new blossomed flower
Pure like the morning dew on the grass
I will collect these petals when they fall down
and cherish it in the leaves of my life;
I will taste these dews so pure
so it becomes the part of my blood.

Road Dynamism

Very often you traverse the roads on a two, three or four wheelers with the ultimate aim of reaching somewhere. Your mind is preoccupied of the worries at home, commitments at work place, reaching your destination in time, meeting your boyfriend, getting over a review meeting……

We are mum, but we do speak out loud and clear to so many other strangers we meet on the road. Some on the bigger version of vehicles tell us through their blaring horns that they are too busy to waste any time on the road. For many it is just a habit to take wrong turns and show no signals and give you that glaring look of “ How dare you come on my way?” Roads can be mistaken to be a park by few, as they walk hand in hand right on the middle of the road and to your humble horn, they give loud and silent message of “You hit me and then I will show you.”

All said and done we do get into the stream of pretending to be in a bit too much in hurry for the mere reason that we are not left out of the whole dynamism. The consequence for being a patient and humble soul on the road are harsh, as you will be waiting in the scorching sun of afternoon or smoggy air of the evening for quite a few minutes while all round you people are just breaking rules and pretending to be in a hurry.
